About our Practice

The world of dentistry has drastically changed over the last several years with advancements in technology and clinical research, but the ultimate goal remains the same — optimal oral health for life. Nowadays, there are many different ways to achieve this objective. At Greystone Smile Design, we take pride in being on the forefront of clinical excellence and patient service.

Education

Trenton H. Buchanan, D.M.D., F.A.G.D., is a restorative dentist for the entire family. His commitment to excellence not only emphasizes the technical skills of dentistry, but also reflects strong components of kindness and compassion.

Dr. Buchanan graduated with honors from Auburn University in 2002 and earned his doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 2006. Looking to further his education, he completed a general practice residency at Denver Health Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, with a focus on medically compromised patients, oral surgery, and advanced treatment planning. Dr. Buchanan practiced for 2 years in Denver before moving back to Birmingham.

Dr. Buchanan offers a wide variety of up-to-date procedures, including porcelain veneers, crowns, bridges, implants, tooth-colored fillings, and tooth whitening, utilizing the latest in dental technology. He was recently published in the Journal of the Academy of General Dentistry and also recently completed the requirements for the prestigious Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. Requirements consisted of 500 hours of approved continuing dental education and successful completion of a written examination. Only approximately 12% of U.S. dentists have earned this impressive honor.
